And The World's Worst Blogger Award goes to....
ME!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously I apologize. I didn't think it would be this hard to find time to post a little story here and there about my weird children but then I got all caught up in summer and laundry and then it's 6 weeks later and still no post!!
The funny thing about children that I didn't know until I had them is that they actually need attention every now and then. If they don't get the attention when they want it they find ways to get it like......trying to mutilate each other, running outside nude, cleaning my cell phone with a wet dish scraper....you get the point?!?!
So I guess what I am trying to tell you is that I've been busy. Not to mention I started working at a new Super Target here in town. Part-time of course. It started out as a way to get out of the house....I've become somewhat of a hermit since staying home with the kids and figured I could use a good excuse to get out a little that didn't involve spending money (right honey!!). It's been fun but it's starting to get to be TOO MUCH!! I'll be asking them to cut my hours down or I'll be quitting as it's getting to be football season and I just can't stand the thought of missing any of Jackson's games. While I know the sports are all just starting and there will be many more to come I can't stop thinking that it's time I won't get back! Plus I know how much he hates it when I'm not there for him at his events. So we'll see what happens there....time will tell.
In other news....SCHOOL SEASON IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!! All three children will be attending school in some form this year. Jackson will start 4th grade on Sept. 4th and the twins will start preschool on Sept. 9th. They're in the Tues./Thurs. mornings class for 2 1/2 hours. And in those 2 1/2 hours I don't know what I will do with myself! I may actually have to clean my house!
I'll be posting a slide show of photos from our summer. So stay tuned for that. Hopefully I didn't loose any readers while I took a brief (okay LONG) hiatus from posting. I just couldn't bear to loose any of my 3 fans :)
Take care!

A little explanation about personalities....

I have a lot of people ask me questions about the twins. Are they fraternal? Do they fight? Do they differ in personalities? Well the above picture answers them all. Completely, perfectly, to a T!!! Everyday is like an episode of The Odd Couple playing out in my family room.
Everything about them is different! How on earth they managed to be in the same womb for 8 months is beyond me! To be honest they never really liked being next to each other and now I understand why.
First we have Grant. Grant plays the role as the neat one. The anal one. The one who today decided mama's cell phone needed a good cleaning so he took the dish scraper brush to it. Was it wet you ask??? OH YES IT WAS!!! Is it the only phone we have in the house??? OH YES IT IS!! And mama was not happy one bit! Luckily for the white haired child all turned out just fine. I was able to take the blow dryer to it in time before any of the water got too deep. I called Jon to make sure it works and after hanging up I realized I forgot to tell him something. I called back immediately only to have Jon answer with "YEP IT WORKS." I got the feeling he would've rather seen the phone die a morbid death!
Back to the original point. Grant has always been like this. He would spend a very long time making sure all of his matchbox cars lined up perfectly and if anyone would happen to bump them out of line....watch out! He loves to clean up the family room....even though his idea of cleaning up is to get everything off the floor and onto the coffee table. I'm not complaining though it's less bending over that I have to do.
So if Grant is the neat and tidy one you can only guess who the messy, disorganized, feel more comfortable living in a pig pen kinda kid is......you guessed it Cooper!!
Everything about Cooper is messy......right down to his hair! That child I swear would feel more at home and at ease if I never cleaned up (which is good because there is many days that I don't). And it down right bugs Grant. Even the way they draw pictures is opposite. Cooper is happy to draw little circular squiggle lines all over the paper whereas Grant will draw straight lines. Cooper is content to throw on a pair of orange gym shorts with a red long sleeve button down corduroy shirt and Grant can pick out a perfectly matched outfit every time. In fact if Grant can't find anything that matches he get really upset. Cooper loves to help clean up though....only his idea of doing it is to tell Grant where things are and where they should go but he won't lift a finger!
So as much of a difference there is between the two of them it really seems to help them get along better with each other. They really seem to balance each other out. They know each others roles in life and they're okay with it. So there isn't much competition at this point in life and I can only hope that remains.
Only time will tell but I can already see a little accountant and garbage man in my future.
*okay not really about the garbage man thing. I do hope for a better life than that for my children but I had to get the point across.....right?
Hope all is well with you. Sorry for the delay in posts summer has gotten the best of me!

Conversations with Grant

White lies!
The twins and I made a cake today. I just got done mixing up the batter with the mixer and told Cooper and Grant not to lick the blades of the mixer yet. "Just wait" I said. I then turned my back to get a scraper and when I turned back around I found Cooper putting his blade back in the bowl of batter. I immediately scolded him for not having patience and listening to me. He had to leave the area!
Then Grant turned toward me with a very innocent look on his face and this is how it went down.....
Me: Grant did you lick your mixer blade?
Grant: NO.....Coopie did.
Me: Grant are you sure you didn't lick the cake batter?
Grant: NO Mama.....only Coopie!
Me: Oh....okay!
I'll let you be the judge....

It was white cake batter!

Just a little story.....
about how naturally weird my children are! I say naturally because I would never do anything like this.....

Jon was cutting Jackson's hair last night and I was in the bathroom with them finishing up the twins bath. I got occupied with convincing Jackson he wasn't going to die when I turned around and saw this......

ARGH!
You know that saying "when it rains it pours"? Well the Zimmerman house is being directly hit by a typhoon!! I have not forgotten about the blog....just been very very busy.
We've been dealing with some Cooper issues and it has not been fun. I'll post all about his surgery and ever going recuperation at nap time. The kids are running wild right now and knowing them they will notice I am busy typing and figure out a way to tie each other up and hang each other from their toes (really...they will)!!
More later.

The Clutch hit....
Two outs and we're down 0-5. Jackson comes up to bat. Everyone silently knows...through watching him play in past 5 games....that he will likely strike out....hey I'm only honest!
Pitch one....strike.
Pitch two....contact.....HE HIT IT!!!
And he hit it good!! And we were able to not only stay in the inning but we were able to catch up and win the game. "Clutch hit" the coach called it and for hitting that clutch hit he got the game ball!!
(but more importantly he learned that he can do this after all....and that's so much more important that some ball)

Update on Jackson
Jackson had his Dr. appt. today to discuss possible food reactions. The dr. said it does sound like something is going on but since the G.I. system is so diverse it could be a number of things. So right now we have to play a game of elimination. They unfortunately had to draw 3 tubes of blood out of his arm and they will test it against Wheat/Gluten, Tomato's, and H. Pylori (bacteria). I have no idea how long it will take to get the results...I'm assuming 3-5 days. He was very brave about the blood draw....there were tears involved but they didn't last long at all! I was very proud of him. Hopefully we can get him some answers soon. Poor kid!
While we are on the subject of Jackson and bad news......his feet are now bigger than mine! I asked him to stop growing them but he didn't listen!

Chicken Spaghetti recipe
We had this recipe last night and it was a hit! It comes highly recommended! The recipe may look a little daunting but it really was rather easy to make and very much worth it. I only wish Jon wouldn't have taken the left overs to work with him!
Chicken Spaghetti
2 cups cooked chicken
2 cans Cream of Mushroom soup
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup finely diced green pepper
1/2 cup finely diced onion
1-4 oz jar diced pimentos, drained
3 cups dry spaghetti, broken into two inch pieces
2 cups reserved chicken broth from pot
1 teaspoon Lawry’s Seasoned Salt
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
Salt & Pepper to taste
1 additional cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
Boil 1 cut up fryer and pick out the meat off the bones to make two cups (packed). Cook spaghetti in same chicken broth until al dente. Do not overcook. When spaghetti is cooked, combine with remaining ingredients except additional 1 cup sharp cheddar. Place mixture in casserole pan and top with remaining sharp cheddar. Cover and freeze up to six months, cover and refrigerate up to two days, or bake immediately: 350 degrees for 45 minutes until bubbly. (If the cheese on top starts to get too cooked, cover with foil.)
Enjoy!

Bad News...
Cooper does need surgery. We had our doctor appointment yesterday with the ENT and it didn't take him long at all to see that Cooper's tonsil had a 20-30% growth since the last time we had come into the office. I think that was in the fall. So he said that there is no more waiting around to see if Cooper's body would grow into it like he told us last time....it needs to come out.
I am very nervous as I think any mother is when she finds out her child needs surgery...no matter how simple it is. It does help that Trenton (my nephew) has been through it so I kind of know what to expect but I'm still scared for him. He of course has NO clue what is going on. From the time we pulled into the Dr.'s parking lot to the time Cooper actually had to get examined he was trying to convince me that it was Grant that needed to go to the doctor....not him (he has a fear of doctors...he did do really good for dr. though, no crying). But even when Cooper was done he told the Dr. that it was Grant's turn. I guess he thinks they have to do everything together! Which could make surgery day interesting since Grant will be staying home with my mom. They've never really been alone. They don't really like to be alone. My mom will have to keep track of how many times she'll hear Grant say "Where's Coopie?".
Surgery day is May 29th and for 2 weeks afterwards we will be having to feed Cooper only mush (oatmeal, yogurt, applesauce, etc.) which could get interesting when he sees Grant eating whatever he wants! We will also need to restrict his activities...no swinging, no riding bikes, no swimming. If you don't know Cooper very well then you have NO IDEA how hard this will be....the child can't sit still. It's going to be very difficult but on the bright side it will give me some very interesting things to write about!
Jackson's appointment is tomorrow to discuss possible food allergies. He asked me last night if he could take the day off of school because dr. appointments make him tired and my answer was.....ummmm NO (nice try little stinker)! His appointment is at 4:15....well after school is out.
I'll keep you posted on that one too! Hope your day is a great one!

Random weekend pics...
If these pics are too small for you to see them you can click on them to make them bigger.
Grant playing rocks with Cheeto (Zelia). Yes her parents know that my boys call her Cheeto and they think it's hilarious!
My mom doesn't believe that innocent little Grant would say something naughty like "boobies" so I took this picture of him doing it. See that naughty glare in his eyes? That glare is the first sign that things are about to go down!!
If Jon and I had a girl she would look something like this. (They found a daycare girls barrett and wanted to put it in their hair....I have to play hair with someone since I can't have girls of my own!!)
My Mother's Day weekend
Yep...it lasted the whole weekend. Jon took the boys shopping Friday night while I was at a party and let them each pick out a flower arrangement to give me on mother's day. I got woken up Saturday morning by some very excited boys holding their flowers and cards. I tried to get them to wait until Sunday but they were way too excited. That's great and all but then we had to go to Jackson's ballgame and Cooper just HAD to take his flowers with him for HIS GIRLFRIEND!! He carried that little pot of flowers around with him all day long. They were his flowers and every once and a while I could smell them but otherwise I swear he was going to make me get a signed note from my mom before he would let me hold them. The flowers finally reached their final resting spot on the kitchen window sill at around 10:00 p.m. last night and he hasn't asked for them for at least 12 hours.
The rest of Saturday was a busy one. We went to Jackson's ballgame. They won. I was rather impressed by some of the players we have...they did great. Jackson is having some issues with fear when he's up to bat. Last year they had a pitching machine pitch to them and he had gotten quite used to having perfect pitches every time he was up. Well this year we have the kids pitching to each other and unfortunately he has seen a couple of kids get hit....nothing bad but it has put a huge amount of fear into his head. We have some work to do to get over it.
After the game we went to our favorite hot dog vendor in the park for some brats and dogs. This guy is a regular of ours in the summer...however he has raised his prices a very little bit and Jon noticed this so I may have to cook more on the weekends this summer...grrr!
I have been bugging Jon to buy a playset for the back yard for long enough and he decided that he has heard enough and got me one for mother's day. Some would question if this would be a gift for me or one for the kids....and my answer to that question would be this....anything that gets the kids out of the house, gets them fresh air and makes tired enough to sleep for 12 hours in a day is every mother's dream. I am feeling like a very lucky woman right now!
Jon and I spent all afternoon putting it together and got 75% of it done...and without scalping each other..that's always a plus! Of course the next day it was rainy with hurricane force winds...and we were stuck inside....again!
Sunday I woke up to breakfast in bed. Jon made me a wonderful spread of pancakes and an omelet....and as a bonus it was edible!! I did allow Jon to get some work done in the basement in the afternoon....I want this project done!!
The weekend ended with a trip to the local Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que joint. I love this place...wonderful food!! We had to kinda rush the trip though as Jackson got an upset stomach...again! It's time to get him into the doctor for allergy testing. He seems to get upset stomachs quite a bit anymore after eating...poor kid!
Speaking of doctor's...Cooper has his appointment with the ENT tomorrow so we can hopefully get to the end of his sleeping escapades! I'll keep you posted.
Like I said it was a very busy weekend. We got a lot done. We heard the word "boobies" a couple hundred times. What more can you ask for??
Hopefully yours was a great one as well!

oops!
I posted in reverse order! So you will have to scroll down to the story to understand the pictures! Sorry.
Do you see that fountain in the pic above this one? As soon as I got done taking this picure of these beautiful tulips I looked up to find my 3-year-olds scaling the fence of that fountain....yep right in the middle of the beautiful tulips. Don't worry no tulips were destroyed during our trip to the zoo!
On to McDonald's where the twins figure out how much fun bubble blowing in your bright red juice can be!
Our wild weekend!
Okay not really wild but I got your attention. We did have a busy weekend but none of it included anything remotely wild unless you include the nasty animals we saw at the zoo yesterday.
Jon took Friday off to help me kick-start our garage sale. The sale was supposed to be from Friday to Sunday and we did good the first day but when Saturday rolled around and it was 50 degrees, raining and down right cold we decided that we couldn't bear another day. Jon was even so cold he had to get a stocking cap on. He decided to call it quits when his fingers became too numb to play his PSP!
Here are the other activities we had going on besides the garage sale:
Jackson had ball practice.
Jackson had a birthday party at a bowling alley (he had a blast).
Jackson had ball pictures.
Jon worked in the basement.
I decided I needed to get out of the house so I took the boys to a nasty zoo!
I then decided to take the boys out to lunch at a nasty McDonalds to eat outside and play on the playground where Grant got stuck at the top of the closed in tunnel toy and I had to convince him from the bottom that he could trust Jackson to help him come down...there was no way I was going in after him!
All in all it was a fun weekend. I'll post some random pics from our weekend in the next post.
(Oh...I know I promised pics of the basement progress but we ended up trashing the basement to find things to sell at the sale so I wanted to wait for Jon to clean it up before I went down and took pictures. Jon has since cleaned it up quite well and I will be posting his basement progress soon.)

Hang in there!
I am still waiting on the delivery of my new camera which is supposed to be delivered sometime today. I am planning on giving you all an update with photos of our basement remodel project. It has really come a long way! In fact we are nearly done (I have to tell myself this to remain in stable condition)!
I should get the photos up later today. Hang in there and keep in mind that I do have 6 children in my house as we speak ranging from age 18 months to 4. Two of which are twin boys that someone just dropped on my door step and they are a handful (cute...but a handful)!!
*alright I admit the twins are mine but when I see them feeding the dog doughnuts from the breakfast table I tend to wonder if they really are mine.

It's been brought to my attention......
that I haven't posted in a while! I think my friend Tracy was concerned that the monstrous pile of laundry actually swallowed me whole so she called today and told me to get on the ball!
In all honesty I have either been too busy (did I tell you I have a husband who lives in the basement on the weekends....he's finishing it) or I have been too lazy! Yep I will admit it there are times when I am just too lazy to do anything....hence the 15 loads of laundry in the previous post.
Not much has been going on around here. I had my birthday on Friday and I am calmly and collectively waiting for my present from my husband to get here (calmly..right Jon?). He has ordered me a new camera so I can hopefully get some better pics of the kids.
Cooper has learned a neat new trick this past week. He has decided that waking up at around 1:00 a.m. and staying awake sometimes until 6:00 a.m. is a really fun thing to do! For some reason he seems to think that mom really enjoys it too as he keeps me awake with him. This lack of sleeping has actually concerned me enough to call the doctor and see what he thinks. We know that Cooper has one tonsil that is enlarged and we have taken him to an ENT specialist to get it checked out. At the time the Dr. said we will just keep an eye on it and see if he will grow into it. However if it seems like he is having problems eating and/or sleeping to give him a call and we will re-think things.......I called him.......it's time to re-think things........I'M TIRED!! He goes in on May 13th to get checked out and will probably have a sleep study done to figure out why he is doing this.
This whole situation has only confirmed what I always thought about Cooper...if there is going to ever be a call from the dean of students at a college saying this:
"Yes ma'am sorry to have to wake you at 4:00 a.m. but we just caught your son running around campus naked with just a hat made of newspaper on his head and yelling I'm freeeeeee!!!"
.....I'm gonna know right away that it's Cooper!! This child doesn't seem to require a whole lot of sleep, he LOVES a good party and he can run really really fast and that down right concerns me!! Contact me in 18 years if you want to hear me say "Told you so!"
As far as the other 3 kids:
Jackson: Just had a friend sleep over last weekend and we watched the movie "I am Legend." I think he is a little concerned that there is a virus out there that will turn him into a zombie. We will be buying stock in Purell at this rate!! (I am not a bad mom....I didn't know that this movie was about zombies...and his friend had already seen it so I thought it would be okay).
Grant: Has learned some choice words and we have no idea where he learned them. For example:
While riding his bike in the basement watching his Daddy work this past weekend I caught him saying "boobies...boobies....want some boobies." Oh yeah...and that's just one of them!! I just love the age 3 stage!
Rossco (our furry kid): No changes there besides he desperately needs a haircut and bath!
So that's about it. I did get my toilets cleaned and I got somewhat caught up on my laundry even though I have come to realize with 5 people living here there will never be an end to the laundry!
Hope all is well with you and your families! Take care.

Take care.

Public Service Announcement.....
The daily escapades of The Zimmerman Boys will continue when their mom regains control of her 15 loads of laundry, 4 very messy bedrooms, kitchen with the never ending supply of dirty dishes, bathrooms with pee stained toilets because her boys have really bad aim, and a toy room that you can play Where's Waldo in (only you really can't find Waldo anywhere)!
Until then please have a great weekend. We are off to Iowa for a family wedding and shall return Sunday night. Well......at least I know I will return. I'm not so sure about the boys. They've been telling me how much they want to go live with Grandma out of fear of their mom's mental instability following yesterday's black cloud day (which actually turned out to be a nice afternoon and evening). I just need to find a closet in Grandma's house that has enough room to fit 3 boys, a dog, and about 4 suitcases long enough for me to get across the border!! I'll keep you posted!
Have a great weekend!!
P.S. I really wouldn't abandon my children like that......I would at least make sure one of the suitcases had enough food and water in them to last at least an hour (maybe two)! What kind of mom do you think I am!!

One of those days!!
Do you ever wake up and lie in bed looking at the black cloud that is over your head and telling yourself "This is not going to be my day"? Well I woke up with a black cloud on my side of the bed today. It didn't help that Jackson woke me up 3 times last night.
Time #1 "Mom....Mom....MOM....I can't sleep. I've been awake for 6 hours and just can't sleep. (keep in mind this was at 11:45 and he went to bed at 9:30)
Time #2 (30 minutes later) "Mom...Mom....MOM....I keep having bad dreams.
My response to this was "I thought you couldn't sleep, how can you have bad dreams if you can't sleep?" Followed by "Get your butt to bed and lie there until you fall asleep"
(keep in mind I am battling a head cold and I need my sleep)
Time #3 "Mom....Mom....MOM...I have to go potty." Oh dearest Lord, I was almost 1 son short at that moment. He must have fallen asleep after that or he realized I was on the verge of making him sleep on the front porch because he never bothered me again. Then again he may have come back in and failed at waking me up!
I got an e-mail later in the morning from my husband saying this "I have a feeling Jackson caught a few too many fumes of the spray I was using in the basement for the corner-bead - - the same stuff that kept me on a high until 2am." (poor kid really couldn't sleep and it wasn't his fault...yes I will apologize).
Fast forward to this morning. I got up (reluctantly) to my alarm clock and proceeded to get ready for the daycare kids to arrive. Grant was the only one awake at this point. In the midst of blow drying my hair I kept hearing a noise. It went something like this.....THUMP...THUMP....knock, knock.....THUMP. Finally after about the forth thump I realized I had better check it out.
To keep the twins from slamming doors, pinching their fingers in doors and locking us out of their rooms I have been throwing a towel over the tops of their doors so it stops the door from shutting all the way (works great by the way). So I checked on Grant who was in his room. The door was shut tight. In my mid-morning stupor I figure he just locked it, no big deal. Well I turn the knob and it turns which tells me it is not locked after all. So why can't I open it?? I figure out immediately what had happened. The THUMPS were Grant shutting the door so forcefully that he shut the towel in with it. THE DOOR WAS JAMMED!! I tried and tried with all my might to open the darn thing. I pushed with all I had in me. All the while Grant is on the other side...in his room...alone.....telling me "just get a key mama" and "go find a key". He was calm....I wasn't!!
I even tried what the police do on t.v. to get in a door, which is to throw your shoulder into it. Nope didn't work.
Panicked I wake Jackson up.....what good this will do it beyond me but at this point I didn't know what else to do. Upon me telling Jackson that Grant was trapped he jumped right out of bed (because regardless of what he says he really does love his brothers). He tried one time to push the door open and says "He's stuck"!!
At this point I realize I need help. But who?? My neighbor next door was at work as was Jon who was an hour away. Grant can't be locked in his room for an hour. Fire department...police?? Who do I call for something like this?? This is ridiculous!!
I didn't have to call anyone thank God!
Anger is a very strong emotion. And I was angry! I took a run for it from across the hallway and didn't stop. I didn't care if it did hurt me I was running through the darn door! "Grant get back" I said and barrelled towards the door. And it worked!! Hallelujah it worked! He was free...and what did he do...he looked up at me, smiled, and said "I want a doughnut!!"
It didn't end there though....oh no....my day had just begun! As I walk down the stairs I noticed Rossco was sitting by the front door with his ears hung low. This is not normal! I got to the bottom step and noticed a familiar aroma in the air. Yep....you guessed it. Rossco peed all over the floor just minutes before my daycare kids are due to arrive. In a normal dog this wouldn't be such a big deal but my dog is not normal! He is half skunk. Really he is. He is a black and white cocker spaniel whose urine smells like a skunk had just got ran over by a mac truck! It's bad. Thank goodness for carpet shampooers. Quickly we get the machine running and sucking all the remnants of Rossco's skunk spray out of the carpet just in time for daycare child #1 to show up. I apologize for my house smelling like the monkey cages at the zoo and I think to myself "bad day is done". Right?? WRONG!
I'm hungry by this point having not had breakfast (I was a little busy saving my toddler from certain death and killing my dog). Doughnuts were going through my head ever since rescuing Grant so I decide "Doughnuts it is". I get the kids dressed. Get them loaded into the van and off we go. As I start to back out of the driveway I hear "CRUNCH!" And I know exactly what it is because I saw it. I knew it was there before I even started the van but for some reason forgot to move it out of the way. What was it you ask??? Jackson's beloved scooter! He has become rather attached to this scooter ever since he realized he knew how to do tricks on it (one trick). I get out to check the damage. Yep....the back wheel got smashed but I tried it out and it still works good enough! Will it still do the ONE trick...I have no idea but at this point I didn't care!! All I care about is getting some doughnuts and my day ending! I had just woke up and I already want to make the sun go down and get back into my lovely bed before Cooper decides he needs to keep up with his brothers and torture me!! Problem with that is whenever Cooper decides to torture me he always ends up in the ER. Please say a prayer!
Hopefully your days are wonderful and mine ends up getting better (it certainly can't get much worse)!!! By the way....the doughnuts were wonderful!
